I am an Upledger CranioSacral Therapist, International Health Educator teaching internationally for Upledger Institute International and author. I have been in private practice for 25 years and specialise in gut health, concussion, PTSD, paediatrics and babies.
More about the therapy and my work
Upledger Therapy is a light touch, powerful and intelligent form of bodywork that addresses the central nervous system together with the membranes and bones that surround it. Through a series of specific techniques and manipulation, tension and restriction in any part of this system can be released, improving it’s function and addressing a wide range of health issues.
Another aspect of this work is Somato-Emotional Release which is combined when appropriate with the CranioSacral Therapy to gently release any emotional component of the physical problem. This approach is particularly helpful with treating headaches and migraines, neck and back problems (including post-surgery), whiplash, jaw issues, digestive issues, chronic pain and dysfunction, effects from Long-Covid, multiple sclerosis, anxiety and depression and PTSD.
Families with babies and children come for support and therapy with many issues such as difficult births, digestive problems, difficulty sleeping and settling, cerebral palsy, Attention Deficit Disorder, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism, Sensory Processing Dysfunction, residual effects of birth from a mother with alcohol or drug addiction, bonding issues in the case of adoption and fostering, childhood migraines, recurrent ear infections, glue ear, eating problems and many others.
The second edition of my book on gut health "Overcoming Chronic Digestive Issues" is launching September 2023 after years of research on the gut and it’s relationship with our emotional health. My book is for the lay person as well as anyone who works with people as a bodyworker or in any other capacity. It brings in the new science around the gut and its enteric nervous system or second brain and is told through my personal story and journey.
I am now teaching my four day class on the Second Brain and chronic digestive issues internationally for the Upledger Institute International.
I had a fall and hit my head on frozen wood and metal and sustained concussion. I was very dizzy especially if turning my head of lying on my head so I decided to have some craniosacral treatment with Nikki and with one treatment the dizziness disappeared and I was able to lie on my head and also turn my head without feeling dizzy. I was so thrilled and relieved as it was beginning ti impact my life and the GP was not offering any real course of action to be taken other than it will eventually go away and it may take up to 6 months. Thank you Nikki so much.
One word to describe Nikki...unique! My daughter, now 17, has been having treatment with Nikki since the age of 5. Lily describes her visits as "balancing, relaxing, removes tension and anxieties. They make me feel good!"
But, Nikki is more than just her therapist. She is a friend, a great listener, a confident; empathetic, understanding, kind, honest, inspiring, encouraging. One of a kind.
